Transforming Business Intelligence into Company Value

The 7th edition of the CiMi.CON Evolution in Berlin was once again a successful conference. The 150+ attendees of CI, customer insights, market research as well as competitor analysis got together for 2,5 days to discuss the latest developments, new trends and ongoing tasks of MI professionals.

Luminary and thought leader Paul Santelli spoke about ‘CI and the Capitalization of Data’ and how this enforces a paradigm shift in CI-industry. Other speakers like Joost Drieman (mBrain) concentrated on challenging questions like: When is a new technology disruptive and when is it just a development? What are the (weak) signals that will announce disruption? What drives innovation and leads to disruption? What stops or boosts a disruptive competitor? He laid out a strategy and process how understanding the drivers will help companies anticipate their competitions next move. So that they can become a disruptor themselves.

Malin Liden (SAP) shared her insights in how to become a social business. In a digital economy, business happens in real time. To keep up with faster innovation cycles and effectively inform and educate more independent buyers, companies need to invest in communities of people, who are committed to their brand. Users can influence the business strategy of a company big or small, turning intelligence data and partnership into a stronger competitive edge. Alexa Ruda (3M) on the other hand, talk about a very common day-to-day problem: CI messages falling on dead ears. She outlined the necessary steps to get stakeholders to listen and to act based on the provided competitive analysis reports.

Based on their real-world use cases for business development and innovation & growth strategies, one thing is for sure: the buzzwords digital transformation and big data will change the CI landscape even more. With that in mind, it’s most important to address the need for collaboration to maximize the effectiveness of the CI and Market Insight technologies & methods.
